1. Introduction

This policy explains how TerraAqua uses cookies and similar technologies. It should be read with the Privacy Policy.

2. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files stored by a browser. Mobile applications and controllers may use similar technologies, including secure tokens and local storage.

3. Why we use them

TerraAqua uses cookies and similar technologies to keep users signed in, remember preferences, protect accounts, provide secure cloud communication, understand service performance and improve features. TerraAqua does not sell personal information collected through cookies.

4. Essential cookies

Essential technologies support login sessions, authentication, security, load balancing and operational preferences. Blocking them may prevent parts of the service from working.

5. Functional cookies

Functional technologies may remember language, theme, dashboard layout, display preferences and the aquarium previously selected.

6. Performance and analytics

Where used, analytics may record page visits, feature usage, device and browser type, operating system, approximate region and error information. Non-essential analytics will only be activated where the required consent has been obtained.

7. Security technologies

Security cookies and tokens help detect suspicious activity, protect accounts, prevent automated attacks and maintain secure sessions.

8. Mobile applications

TerraAqua applications may store login tokens, device identifiers, application preferences and notification settings in secure local storage where needed to provide and secure the application.

9. ReefCore Controllers

Local ReefCore operation does not normally depend on browser cookies. Secure authentication tokens may be used when a controller communicates with TerraAqua Cloud.

10. Third-party services

Selected third-party providers, such as payment, analytics, embedded-content or customer-support providers, may use their own cookies. Their policies apply.

11. Managing cookies

Browsers normally allow users to view, delete, block or restrict cookies and clear stored site data. Disabling essential cookies may stop account and cloud features from functioning correctly.

12. Consent

Where required by law, TerraAqua requests consent before setting non-essential cookies. Consent can be changed or withdrawn through available cookie controls.

13. Retention

Session cookies expire when a browser closes. Persistent cookies remain for a defined period or until deleted. Security tokens expire automatically. Preference data remains until changed, expired or deleted.

14. Changes

This policy may be updated to reflect changes in law, technology or TerraAqua services.

15. Contact

Questions may be sent to info@terra-aqua.co.uk.
